01

Start with the action

Ask what someone needs to decide after opening the page. That answer determines the primary metric, table, filter and call to action.

02

Give data a clear status

Loading, empty, partial and failed data should look different. Operators need to know whether a zero means no activity or no connection.

03

Use detail progressively

A reliable overview reveals patterns first, then allows a drill-down into the record, event or account that needs attention.

04

Keep permissions close to risk

Administrative actions deserve confirmation, audit context and role checks. A polished interface should not hide the consequences of a destructive action.

05

Make the routine fast

Saved filters, sensible defaults and responsive layouts help the people who use the dashboard every day—not just the people reviewing it in a demo.
